Doreen McMillan
My love for reading and writing started when I was in the fourth grade. It was the first time I created a story and used pictures from magazines to make a book. Ever since then, I continued daydreaming as a student and even as an adult to create stories in my head.
I pursued my interest in reading and writing by getting a degree in English. I work full-time as an educator in a public school district so I can balance my time between writing novels and working to help support my family.
I started self-publishing in 2010. At that time, I didn’t have any experience with writing novels. I just wrote about what I was interested in which ended up being stories for older teens that had romance, suspense, and a paranormal theme.
The first three books were written under my legal name. I learned a lot from writing those books, and I consider that venture to be my learning curve as an author.
I continued to write more novels after that, except this time I decided to write under a pen name, Doreen McMillan. I had finally figured out that I wanted to write Contemporary and Paranormal Mysteries and Thrillers.
My stories have suspenseful plots with twists and turns. There's nothing I enjoy more than using my imagination.
