I just finished working on my fourth book a few days ago, which will actually end up being the first title I’ll be publishing using a pseudonym.
My first three books were a learning experience for me. The very first book I had written was a novella that I published in 2010. I then turned it into a trilogy and had finished writing the last book for the series in 2014.
After that, I accepted full time teaching positions for the following three years. It took a lot of time away from my writing, but I was glad to have the opportunity. I hold the trilogy close to my heart even though looking back I can see the areas I could improve in as a writer.
I’m at a point now where I want to balance working as a substitute/tutor and a writer. The reality is I have to work to pay my bills and I want to write mysteries because I enjoy doing it.
While I was working on my fourth title, I had a moment of reflection and realized I wasn’t the same writer when I wrote the trilogy. With that being said, the sudden realization brought about the idea of using a pen name for my future works.
I will be publishing my new title, Hocking Hills, as Doreen McMillan.
I hope you’ll stay tuned for the release date.
