Doreen McMillan

Author of mysteries and thrillers for older young adults

About Me

I’m a wife, a mom, an educator, and an author of Young Adult fiction. My favorite classic novels to reread a copious amount of times are Charlotte Bronte’s Jayne Eyre and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

I like to read anything that has suspense, mystery, thriller, and or romance. I enjoy writing YA Romantic Mystery and Thriller books for older teens. Some of my stories will have a paranormal theme.

I’m also an avid coffee and tea drinker who loves taking long walks when the weather is agreeable.

When eighteen-year-old Waylynn Ambrose receives a phone call about her mother’s sudden illness, she immediately goes to the police station in Boston Heights.

But as soon as she arrives, she gets a strange vibe about what happened to her. Nothing makes sense when she finds her mother in a facility. Then with the help of a local police officer, she starts piecing things together and learns why her mother went to Boston Heights.
Once everything starts to come to light, Waylynn discovers someone has put a curse on her mother. After she accepts the reality of the situation, she realizes she has an exceptional ability to reverse the curse with the help of an elusive and mysterious doctor.
But time is not standing still. Waylynn has to find the strength within herself to battle against an unknown force before she can save her mother–and save herself. Something sinister is lurking in a town near Boston Heights. It’s a place forbidden. A place that intends to take one’s soul.

GRUDGE

How far would you be willing to go to get an A on a test?

That question plagues seventeen-year-old Laurel Anderson when she is confronted about the possibility of not graduating from high school towards the end of her senior year.
A plan was made with friends at a sleepover. But everything goes horribly wrong, and they all vow to keep what happened that night a secret.
Then Laurel meets Jace Messina whose hot and cold attraction toward her becomes intriguing when she takes a chance on an offer from him that she can’t refuse.
But as soon as she starts to have a glimmer of hope, everything falls apart. Bad decisions are not forgotten–especially by someone who has their eye on her for vengeance.

TWISTED

Seventeen-year-old Briella Madison begins her senior year at a new school in a new town, thousands of miles away from where she grew up. Briella came from a home life she’d rather soon forget.

After moving in with her aunt, she meets Caitlyn Cartwright who went from friend to frenemy within the few months she’d gotten to know her. Their friendship is tested when Briella becomes secretly infatuated with Caitlyn’s ex-boyfriend. A malicious lie comes between them.

But when Caitlyn makes an attempt to mend things, Briella finds herself caught up in a web of lies where one of them becomes a target and the other becomes a victim.

HOCKING HILLS

For eighteen-year-old Emily Barnes, feeling as if she did not belong was something she had grown accustomed to. That’s why it was easy for her to make the decision to go to Hocking Hills with barely enough money in her pocket after receiving the original copy of her birth certificate.

While on her quest to find answers, she meets deputy Dylan McKenna whose gorgeous—but watchful—dark blue eyes makes her regret an act of theft she foolishly commits. Emily can’t seem to fight the attraction even though he is completely wrong for her…or rather, she is completely wrong for him.

But when Emily soon discovers that she has inherited an unusual ability, her search for answers becomes abundantly clear. There is someone in Hocking County who wants something Emily has. Something so rare they’re willing to kill for it….
